Terms and Conditions

About these terms

These Terms of Use explain the rules for using MyChilliGarden (mychilligarden.com). The site is run by My Chilli Garden, a small family business. By using the site, creating an account, commenting, adding a Chilli Directory listing or sending us a garden story, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Gardening advice, not professional advice

Everything on MyChilliGarden is shared for general information and enjoyment. Our growing tips, variety notes and recipes come from our own experience in the garden. They are not professional, medical, safety or legal advice. Results depend on your climate, soil, seeds and care, so please use your own judgement and take care when handling very hot chillies. Nutrition values and serving details in our recipes are estimates for general information only, so please check them against your own ingredients and ask a qualified professional about any dietary or health questions. Very hot chillies need careful handling: wear gloves when cutting them, avoid touching your eyes or face, wash your hands and tools afterwards, and keep chillies and hot sauces away from children. Superhot varieties can cause strong reactions, so start small and know your own tolerance.

Accounts

Some features, such as submitting a garden story through My Garden or adding a listing to the Chilli Directory, need an account. Please give accurate details, keep your password safe and let us know if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.

Your garden stories, listings and comments

You keep the copyright in the stories, photos, listings and comments you send us. By submitting them, you give My Chilli Garden a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to publish, edit (for example to shorten, correct spelling or add headings), display and share them on mychilligarden.com and on our social media channels, with credit to you where practical. You can still use your own content anywhere else.

All garden stories are reviewed before they are published. We may edit, delay or decline any submission, and we do not have to publish everything we receive. The free Chilli Directory is provided as is, and we may change, move or remove listings at any time.

When you submit content, you confirm that it is your own work, or that you have permission to share it, and that it follows these terms.

What is not allowed

Please do not post or submit anything that:

  • is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive or hateful;
  • copies someone else’s photos or writing without permission;
  • is spam, misleading advertising or unrelated promotion;
  • shares other people’s personal information without their consent;
  • contains viruses, malicious links or anything meant to damage the site;
  • promotes the sale of illegal plants or substances.

Removing content and accounts

We may remove any content, listing or comment, or suspend or close any account, if we believe it breaks these terms or harms the site or its community. We will try to explain why when we can, but we do not have to give notice. You can ask us to remove your own content or close your account at any time by contacting us.

MyChilliGarden may link to seed shops, other gardening sites and social media. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their content, products or privacy practices.

No warranty and limits on our responsibility

We work hard to keep the site useful and accurate, but it is provided as is, without any promises that it will always be available, error free or suitable for your purpose. As far as the law allows, My Chilli Garden is not responsible for any loss or damage that comes from using the site, following its advice or relying on content posted by other users. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law.
