Welcome to another entry in the My Chilli Garden collection for the 2025 season! Today, we’re featuring Habero, our Habanero Orange chilli plant that’s thriving nicely as the season heats up.

The Habanero Orange is a classic among chilli lovers — known for its bright color and unmistakable fruity, citrusy heat. These chillies typically pack around 100,000 to 350,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making them seriously hot but still incredibly flavorful.
Perfect for hot sauces, salsas, or adding fire to dishes, Habanero Orange is a must-have for any serious chilli grower.
Growth Journey
- Name: Habero
- Variety: Habanero Orange
- Season: 2025
- Sowing Date: 2.2.2025
- Repotting Date: 20.4.2025
Habero started strong from seed in early February and was repotted in late April. Now at 13+ weeks, it’s looking lush and healthy with that classic Habanero leaf shape. It’s enjoying the sun, getting plenty of nutrients, and is getting ready for the flowering and fruiting stages.
Growing Conditions
Habero lives in a spacious pot with rich soil and excellent drainage. The plant is hardening off outside, soaking up the sun, and bracing for the hotter summer months — just the way Habaneros love it.
We’re careful with watering, keeping the soil moist but not soggy. Occasional feeding with balanced organic nutrients helps promote healthy foliage and encourage flowering.
What’s Next?
As the season progresses, we’ll be watching for those beautiful white Habanero flowers to turn into the classic orange lantern-shaped pods. Once they appear, we’ll share updates on:
✅ Flowering
✅ First fruits forming
✅ Ripening stages
✅ Harvest!
Aside from the heat, the Habanero Orange is deliciously aromatic and makes amazing sauces. “Habero” will be our source of homegrown fire for spicy recipes all year long.
Stay tuned for updates as Habero grows and fruits — and feel free to share your own Habanero growing tips in the comments!
