Our Italian Cherry Bombs soaking up all the sun they get and finally starting to ripen. With 2,500-5,000 SHU they are not that hot, but nevertheless a perfect for stuffing with goats’ or any soft cheese – a great addition to a spicy late summer dinner ๐ #growyourown #cherrybomb #chilli
Garden
Updates from the chilli garden.
Bolivian Rainbow chili flower
Bolivian Rainbow chilli flower spotted. It is a stunningly beautiful plant with all the colours of a rainbow, all on one plant. But there is more, with 30-50k Scoville heat units, thatโs four to twelve times hotter than a jalapeรฑo, so these good looking ornamentals also pack a surprising punch ๐
A decent harvest
Here we go. A decent harvest during a very tricky season of 2020. Although chillies are still warming up, there are lots of other goodies becoming available to cherry-pick from the garden: onion, beans, tomato, parsley, radish, salad, cabbage, cauliflower, zucchini/courgette ๐
Snails and slugs
Snails and slugs are primarily pests of seedlings and herbaceous plants. In this rather cold and rainy season of 2020 which is a snail paradise, our chilli plants are being eaten and bitten all over the place :-/
The first harvest of 2020
Here we go, harvesting of potatoes and beans is starting gradually, while chillies will have to wait lots of additional weeks. Must admit that 2020 season is tough :/
Chilli peppers hit the dirt
The current batch of chilli peppers finally hit the dirt while the next one already chilling on the sidelines and getting ready to join.
Chilli peppers getting ready to go into the dirt
Next batch of chilli peppers waiting on the sidelines and getting ready to go into the dirt ๐
The first chilli flowers in 2020
Chilli pepper season begins. Our over-wintered Carolina reapers began to bloom rendering first chilli flowers in 2020.
Starting a new garden
There is something wonderful about starting a new garden. Try to never let your space lay fallow. Plant something ๐
